When buying a vehicle from one of our Kansas or Missouri auctions, you should ALWAYS check the Documentation Type field on the vehicle detail page.
Public buyers (buyers without a dealer, wholesale, dismantler, or recycler license) should only purchase vehicles with a Title listed as the documentation type. Vehicles with “Lien Sale” or “Bill of Sale” listed as the Documentation Type are reserved for licensed buyers. Without a license, you WILL NOT be able to register your purchase.
Title
For vehicles with a Title, titling and registration of an Autura Marketplace purchase can work exactly as it would if the car was purchased from a dealer or a private party. The instructions are as follows:
- Apply for Title and Registration: Missouri law requires you to apply for a title within 30 days of purchasing the vehicle. Complete the Application for Missouri Title and License (Form 108).
- Gather Required Documentation: The assigned vehicle title signed over to you by the seller, Proof of insurance valid in Missouri, Safety inspection certificate, if applicable, and Emissions inspection (for residents in certain counties).
- Visit your local Missouri Department of Revenue (DOR) license office to submit all required documents and fees.

Title (Salvage)
If you purchased a vehicle with a salvage title, additional steps are necessary to title and register the vehicle:
- Repair the vehicle to meet Missouri safety and operational standards.
- Obtain a Vehicle Examination Certificate: After repairs, have the vehicle inspected by the Missouri State Highway Patrol to obtain a Vehicle Examination Certificate (Form DOR-551).
- Apply for a Prior Salvage Title. Submit the following to your local DOR license office: Application for Missouri Title and License (Form 108), marked "Prior Salvage,” Original salvage title assigned to you, Vehicle Examination Certificate (Form DOR-551), dated within 60 days of application, Proof of insurance valid in Missouri, and a Notarized lien release, if applicable.
- Register the Vehicle and pay any applicable fees. Once the prior salvage title is issued, proceed with registering the vehicle to obtain license plates and legal authorization to operate the vehicle on Missouri roads.
